I love making these pens. The challenge on the lathe is to make an arc along the body that is centered in the pen and neither too low or too high. For a pen like this, if there is no curve in the body, it looks unfinished. If there is too much of a curve, it looks fat and unwieldy. I also love that there is enough of the body, whether I turn it in wood or acrylic, that you can really get enjoyment from the body material itself.
